Seasonal Festivals

At Willowsong Tairāwhiti, our year is shaped by the rhythm of the seasons — a living connection to nature’s cycles of light, growth, harvest, and rest.
Through our seasonal festivals, we come together as a community to honour these changes, weaving meaning, gratitude, and wonder into the lives of our tamariki.

Each festival is celebrated in a simple, heartfelt way — through song, story, crafts, shared food, and gathering together.
From the deep quiet of the winter solstice, to the joyful abundance of harvest, to the fresh new light of spring, these moments offer a sense of belonging to the wider rhythms of life.

Our festivals nurture not only a connection with the earth, but also a sense of inner reverence, joy, and community spirit.
They create memories that settle deeply in the hearts of children — nurturing wonder, gratitude, and a lifelong feeling of belonging to the natural world.

We warmly welcome whānau to share in these beautiful gatherings, as we journey through the year together.
At Willowsong Tairāwhiti, we believe that working with our hands nurtures not only creativity, but also connection, wellbeing, and community spirit.
Our regular craft nights offer whānau and friends the opportunity to come together in a warm, welcoming space to create, share skills, and enjoy each other’s company.

Each evening is gently guided by simple, seasonal crafts inspired by the principles of Steiner education — such as felting, natural dyeing, woodwork, sewing, and handcrafts using natural materials.
These gatherings are as much about the process as the product: an invitation to slow down, work with intention, and find joy in creating something beautiful with our own hands.

Whether you are experienced or a complete beginner, our craft nights are open to everyone who wishes to join.
Together, we weave not only treasures for our kindergarten and homes, but also the deeper threads of community, creativity, and care.
