Beyond the Rainbow Bridge: Nurturing Our Children from Birth to Seven, by Barbara J. Patterson and Pamela Bradley, is our pick for spring. It grew out of an actual parent class run by a longtime early childhood teacher and covers rhythm at home, imaginative play, gentle approaches to discipline, and the everyday practical stuff — including a few simple craft and story ideas along the way. Each chapter closes with real questions parents in that class actually asked, so it reads less like a manual and more like someone who's sat with plenty of tired, unsure parents before.
